Bright, located in Victoria’s Great Alpine Valleys makes an ideal family holiday destination or couples escape. Bright is located in North East Victoria, in a valley surrounding by the Alpine National Park and Mount Buffalo National Park.

Our distinct seasons offer truly magnificent attributes; stunning Autumn colours, warm Summers, Mother nature comes alive in Spring and Winter provides a base the Alpine Resorts, Falls Creek, Mount Hotham and Mount Buffalo.

In autumn, Bright’s famous avenues of huge deciduous trees – oaks, elms, poplars and Japanese maples – many of which are now more than 70 years old, paint the town red, orange, gold and yellow .

The Murray to Mountains Rail Trail is an integral part of Bright, enjoy a walk or ride along the Trail or take advantage of the world class cycle terrain, both on road and through the mountain trails.

Summer is the busiest season in Bright, with visitors coming from all over. With our  family friendly Centenary Park, this is the perfect place to spend your summer days. For a cooler change many retreat to the Mount Buffalo National Park, right at Bright’s doorstep, where kids can explore on one of the walks or swim in Lake Catani.


In winter, Bright is ideal for your winter holiday, staying at a central location providing the opportunity to take the kids skiing at one of the Victorian Ski fields, Falls Creek, Mount Hotham and Dinner Plain or snowplay at Mount Buffalo National Park.

Bright offers a variety of activities including microlight and scenic flights, ripple rafting, horse riding, winery tours, golf courses, bushwalking, giant water slide, adventure playground, tennis, mountain biking, Nordic or downhill skiing & boarding, gold panning, maze & mini golf, The big shed Café, Trout fishing, ride the rail trail, visit the Deer farm, or lavender farm .


Bright has an excellent range of restaurants, cafes, coffee shops and wine bars.

Bonjour Bright and the Alpine Audax Classic – Australia Day long weekend

Audax rides are non-competitive long distance tours by bicycle, called “randonnees”. The challenge of Audax is not in racing, but in riding at your own pace to finish within the time limit. Audax events are held in most parts of Australia, and you will be made very welcome when participating in rides when visiting other Regions. Rides are open to all reasonably fit riders – non-Audax members are most welcome to join our friendly and supportive participants

Bright Autumn Festival
 – late April to early May

The Bright Autumn Festival is a ten day celebration of the wonderful autumn colours and autumn produce of the valleys of Victoria’s Alpine High Country. 

Annual festival in April/May when Bright is at the height of its autumn colours, featuring open gardens, farm tours, art & craft exhibitions, a street procession and music.

The highlight is the Gala Weekend with a market, music in the streets and a parade

Bright Spring Festival – mid October to early November

The Bright Spring Festival showcases what the Great Alpine Valleys is all about; great cafes and restaurants, access to 3 wine regions, accommodation to suit all budgets, adventure sports, walking tracks and bike trails, street and river markets, art exhibitions and a natural beauty not found elsewhere in Victoria.

Spring is Bright’s best secret. What a glorious time to visit when fresh green leaves return to the trees and buds and blooms are aplenty. A very warm welcome to you all and we know you will enjoy your stay with us, there is something for everyone.

Two week annual festival in October/November celebrating the magic of spring in Bright with open gardens, gardening exhibitions, guided walks, plays, concerts and fireworks

Bright Rod Run – mid November

Bright has welcomed Street Rods, Classic and Custom vehicles on the second weekend in November for the past 22 years.

This event attracts entrants from all around Australia and spectators from all parts of the globe.

And in 2013 we will again make your Rod Run weekend, one to remember.

Wandiligong Nut Festival – late April to early May

The Wandiligong Nut Festival is held in picturesque Wandiligong, on the outskirts of Bright. Held as part of the Bright Autumn Festival. For more details, check out the website.
